It has been far too long since i wrote  last but here it is, im gonna get a real blog here going, well real for me anyway. Hopefully, i can gather the herd, and have the latest news at one source. Im not gonna try to be a wikipedia, alot is off the top of my head but i will try to refer you to good sources

Where it all began for Enya! :

Enya was born in County Donegal, Her real name is Eithne Padraigin Ni Bhraonain anglicized as Enya Patricia Brennan (best translation i have for what her name means is  daughter of the fields, or perhaps grain farmers daughter, or kernal.) Unity is now closed. 

Yet here, i hope to bring you guys here or get you all referred to the most excellent Enya sites around! I have no desire to be the biggest or the best, just a guide to all things Enya. 

   From all that I can gather Enya had a normal life growing up in Gweedore, County Donegal. She came from an extraordinarily musical family, Her father Leo had his own band. He came to own a pub where Enya first performed with the famous group Clannad, Founded by the other Brennan Children, Especially her sister Moya, who's defacto title is the First Lady of Celtic Music. I like Clannad, but to  be fair and honest, there are other celtic music i like more then Clannad, but they are good. However i would recommend you try them. Her mothers nickname is Baba, she had cats growing up, perhaps a dog, played a Saxophone as well back then, and was from all accounts a normal child. Virtually nothing else is really known. Believe me ive looked.
   Though, She did attend a Jesuit catholic school with her brother Bartley. She first sang with Clannad, but then some kind of split happened and Roma and Nicki Ryan took Enya under their wing and turned her into the unique Celtic Superstar Enya. Enya will say that her her music is "Enya" not celtic or otherwise, but its not especially unique, except in one detail. Nicki Ryan came up with a way to layer her sound, so it would sound ethereal, literally hundreds of tracks layered. Its hard to tell whether he did this to amplify her voice, because he thought it was not powerful enough, or, to create a unique effect maybe both. It has been perhaps the key to her success in a lot of ways. People feel carried away. She is heavily influenced by existing celtic music, and by her Catholic upbringing. Much of which is only known in Ireland, or by hardcore celtic music fans. She has put songs on her albums that are not written by her, merely performed by her.
   She lives in Killiney, on the East coast of Ireland, close to a house owned by the famous Bono of U2. She also owns another house in France, again next to Bono. Its hard to tell if its more then a friendship, but its possible theres a romance there, even with Bono being married. Perhaps he is estranged from his wife, and does not make that public. There is good reason to suggest it. Bono has been seen often with younger girls in public. Something that I imagine would make Enya fume. Let alone his wife. I say there is something there. Its also rumored that she once had a relationship to Sir Paul McCartney, though again, just a rumour. I like to trade in facts not rumour, but i can confirm that She lives near Bono in two places, maybe others. I assume for protection as well, in case she needs it. Enya has been victimized by stalkers, one actually making it into her house and tying up one of her servants for instance. Enya ran to her safe room luckily. But she says she cant live her life in fear and went to her studio regularly the very next day. I leave more specific details out, I have them, but they are all publicly available. 
    I would warn anyone to leave her alone, not just because I care deeply about her well being, but also she is well protected  by her inner circle, the police, and security. I have to take some measure to protect her privacy as well.
  
   Enya though doesn't have the room or time for it and has to be very careful who she chooses to all friend. These usually are men or women of some privilege like Bono. Im pretty sure she avoids the common man altogether, she is a women of privilege and her house is incredibly expensive. Its a small expensive castle style mansion, victorian in Killiney. If you want a picture, thats all you should go there for, take your picture or your video in front then leave as quickly as possible, you cannot afford to be perceived as a threat by the police or Enyas security. There was one italian guy who got onto the property and managed to get away who had threatened to commit suicide because he couldnt have Enya.
  No one can have Enya, except who and if she chooses and that man is likely to be rich, accomplished and handsome, something you or i have maybe only one of. Anyone she chooses is gonna be thrust into the spotlight, no matter how hard Enya tries to live a private life. She wants her music to be famous but not her. She must know that is simply impossible. Her interviews are controlled affairs, very little personal information gets asked, and i imagine its because she determines what can be asked, perhaps its the ryans. I have watched many of her interviews, and the questions and answers are so similiar, i can only assume its because the Enya team gives the media a format they must follow with legal clauses or there is no interview. I can only assume, because i have not caught one whiff of the behind the scenes negotiations. I assume because Nicki is a very shrewd individual. 

I guess thats all for now, I will get into the music later its important to establish the background and history so you understand as best as possible who Enya is, we may never know her real personality, or private details because her very very best to hide that from the public, who she really is. She seems to be down to earth, but again her interviews just never really show who she really really is. I wish could know the real Enya, dont we all?




   





 

Unity Closed by Enya Team.

I have started this blog, in the hopes that I will reestablish a site where Enya Fans can once again congregate post Unity. Unity for those of you who dont know, was an site maintained in part by one Nigel for several years. I do not know his real name, only that he is from New South Wales in Australia somewhere.

I was greatly disappointed by the closing of Unity, I also frankly was greatly disappointed by the way that Enya, Roma, and Nicky (the full team that produces Enyas music) left their parting words for the fan site, which was written hastily on a blank piece of paper expressing thanks to the fan, but with absolutely nothing specific, no...hey we are closing unity but we will reeopen something on facebook, no...hey dont worry guys Enya is working on a new album stay tuned....nothing just thanks and good luck for the future literally. No...Enya is retiring hence the reason for closing Unity.... just a hastily written note. It did have their signatures and I happen to have a a copy of that image thankfully. I believe you can still get a copy of that image on unity.enya.com. which will show it closed. They only hinted that it was not farewell but "change" again what that means i have literally no idea only guesses. Will i speculate on that yes sure. Im sure some will be unhappy about me saying i was upset with their team over the way they closed this, but im also sure some share those feelings and wish that the team had given us something to hold onto post unity and some idea of what would happen with enya over the next few years.

Also to be fair, the note did also say, they would keep their eye out for where we all might be. I can only assume through the internet. But that seems to me to be saying that they are looking to us the fans to create sites that they can then be a part of, meaning they no longer wish to be responsible on any level for a site or do the work for it, leaving all the labor to us. Again to be fair they did alot prior to dark sky island, have worked tirelessly for years, ....I cant help but wonder though with all their resources why they could not set up something else better...anyway...

Let me be clear, Enya is my favourite music. Its the whole reason for the blog. I love her music, I really love her because shes such an amazing artist and woman. Shes beautiful intelligent and charming. Yet she as most fans know is very private. So much so some suspect her of being a recluse but she flatly denied that saying she does go out into public often, its simply she wishes her life to be private. Ironically this wish for privacy, seems only to increase the fervor with which people want to invade her private life.

My goal here is to celebrate Enya, by collecting all publicly available info and sharing it with the public. Her family is off limits except where they intersect with publicly available info.

For years i was on the unity site in different guises. I wish i had done more to archive my posts especially after the announcement of its closing. Shame on me, because i wanted to collect some of the great info present, now potentially gone forever. I have no way to once again contact nigel. Nicki and Roma have closed their sites as well.

If this isnt retirement for their team, ill be clueless as to what constitutes that.

So i give you this blog, to satisfy yours and my own desire to continue to enjoy aspects of Enyas work and life. I promise to do a great job at researching and verifying information. If i believe something is rumour ill state that too. Ill give you the reader the most comprehensive blog i can on the subject, and my goal is to create the most exhaustive and complete Enya blog on the entire internet. I will alert all of you if i hear anything about new and confirmed Enya developments.

So heres to Enya and her Team. I will be forever grateful to them for the way she and her team have blessed my life with their music.
